You do the housework, mend and sew, And have now decided that you must go On a journey by train, so far away To enjoy yourself, on your birthday.
No housework or other chores to do As in another house you will reside Let us get on with it, for just a few days On cold salads, raw meat or French fried.
It’ll do them just the world of good To learn to appreciate me And the work I do, without any fuss Or undue sensitivity.
I’ll stay with Jo and enjoy her new flat And maybe I’ll look at the sights I’ll go on the bus and ride on the Tube. And sample many other delights.
But best of all I’ll see twin sister Jan Because, obviously, it’s her birthday too. So we’ll probably let our hair right down And conjure up something wicked to do.
We’ll whip out to the local discothèque When Den’s in the garage, with his weights. And see how the local lads can cavort. Then see what the future dictates!
And, when it’s all over, I’ll journey back home Hoping that they’ve been able to cope. Hello Mum! We’ve missed you dear! Oh! What a load of soft soap.
A lot of old madam, I expect you think. But we hope that you have a very good time. You deserve it dear, ‘cos you’re one of the best. And I just had to put it down in this rhyme.
